Luscombe offers first "cheap black-box" flight recorder

Luscombe is developing a wild new accessory for its 11E, the revival of the 4-seat Luscombe 11A Sedan. Luscombe has announced it's going to offer a compact, lightweight, GPS-driven flight data recorder -- a "black box" -- with an electronic tap feeding a "flash card" which can be used to download flight data, for transfer to a computer, where the flight can be replayed, even with cockpit simulations... Implications for teaching, and rental-fleet supervision... Is this a future asset or issue for general aviation?...

Single Starship Saved for Air Museum

Last month we reported that Raytheon Aircraft had quietly begun recalling the entire Beech Starship fleet, to be scrapped and burned. The leaked secret stunned the aviation community. Following a chorus of requests from museums around the country, Raytheon Aircraft spokesman Tim Travis has announced Raytheon will save a single Starship for the Kansas Aviation Museum... Another plays a key role in Burt Rutan's space program... The fate of the others, though...
