Wichita Downtown Planners Hosting Events

The WDDC --
Wichita Downtown Development Corporation --
is holding two events in February
that should be of interest to those who are
concerned about the future of downtown Wichita,
and the "Downtown Master Plan"

Annual Lecture (Urban Master Plans)
Thursday eve., February 25
Wichita Scottish Rite Temple,
Downtown, at corner of First and Topeka Streets
(one block north and east of Douglas and Broadway).
Guest lecturer is Jim Cloar, noted for downtown development work in:
- Tampa, Florida (sports arena);
- Dallas, Texas (Arts District); and
- St. Louis Missouri (downtown residential & retail).
Lecture focuses on how to take a master plan from the vision to implementation -- providing national perspectives on downtown revitalization.
Opening reception 5:30 pm,
Lecture at 6:30 pm.

the Goody Clancy team.

Wichita Downtown Master Plan "Charrette"

at the Wichita Art Museum,

Just over the bridge north of Seneca & McClean Blvd.,
off Stackman Drive,
(on the road to CowTown).
(A "charrette" is "an intense period
of design activity."
In this case, 7 hours of
intensive discussion and planning.
You can attend as briefly as as you wish.)
The Downtown Master Plan Charrette
is "the cornerstone event"
that will provide key visioning
for the new downtown master plan
(key event in the downtown-planning
"Community Input Process").
On Saturday, Feb. 27,
individuals will be able to participate in a full-day,
hands-on workshop to discuss visions,
utilizing the economic & transportation analysis,
and design principles.
